DEMGY improves composite milling with Jongen
In the latest issue of Machines & Production magazine, DEMGY Normandie is featured. This double-page spread illustrates our collaboration with tool manufacturer Jongen Uni Mill.
Following an organizational change at our former supplier, we seized the opportunity to rethink our methods. The objective was clear: to find a more economical, sustainable, and above all, more efficient solution for machining our high-performance composites.
The old specialized tool we were using regularly caused jams and could even burn the material, resulting in:
- frequent production stoppages,
- high costs associated with poor quality,
- and constant monitoring of the machines by our operators.
These constraints limited our efficiency and made machining more complex and costly.
We therefore opted for Jongen's JMB11-83-PKD milling cutter, a two-tooth cutter with inserts. The results were convincing from the very first tests:
- 20% reduction in cycle times
- 40% increase in cutting speed
- Elimination of jamming
- Optimized tool life
A real leap forward for our productivity and the quality of our parts.
This change of supplier is not only a success for DEMGY Normandie. It has also enabled Jongen to strengthen its expertise in the machining of high-performance composites, a rapidly expanding market, particularly in the aerospace industry.
Together, we have built a relationship based on trust, exchange, and innovation.
