DEMGY Frasne Wins a Micron d’Or for Its Anti-Metastasis Microfluidic Implant

Press release

DEMGY Frasne has just been awarded a 2026 Micron d’Or in the “Microtechnical Components & Subassemblies” category for the CAPDCM project, an innovative microfluidic implant designed to capture circulating tumor cells that cause metastases.
This award highlights the collaboration between DEMGY Frasne and the IBMM (Max Mousseron Institute of Biomolecules) as well as their ability to transform an innovation stemming from academic research into an industrially viable solution for the medical sector.

Honored at the Micronora Awards 2026, the CAPDCM project exemplifies the excellence of French microtechnology in the field of healthcare. Developed with support from the University of Montpellier’s Companies and Campus program, this implantable medical device is designed to attract and then mechanically capture residual tumor cells in order to limit the development of metastases.

This innovation is based on a highly precise microfluidic architecture incorporating microstructures as small as 10 microns. DEMGY Frasne is involved in all industrial stages of the project: tooling design, plastic Micro-injection molding, assembly of the two shells, and quality control. The technological challenges included the production of complex geometries at the micrometer scale, mastering the Micro-injection molding process, and ensuring the device’s final watertight seal.

This award also highlights the synergy between IBMM’s scientific expertise and DEMGY Frasne’s industrial know-how. Together, the partners are taking a decisive step forward in the technology transfer between research and industry, paving the way for the future industrialization of a medical device with high clinical potential.

Presented at the Micronora 2026 trade show, September 29–October 2 in Besançon, the CAPDCM implant will be on display at the DEMGY booth (Hall 2B, booth 401/500), offering visitors the opportunity to discover this MedTech innovation recognized by the jury of the Micronora Awards.
