Microfluidics: High-Precision Microinjection (Lab-on-a-Chip, Biochips)
DEMGY FrasneMicrofluidics requires extremely tight tolerances and a controlled production environment, particularly for diagnostic devices and biochips. DEMGY Group uses microinjection and precision machining to produce these components with complex geometries and strict dimensional requirements. In the medical market, DEMGY Group acts as a development partner, from feasibility studies through to mass production, offering custom microfluidic devices such as lab-on-a-chip, biochips, and microfluidic cartridges.
What is microfluidics?
Microfluidics is a technology that manages the flow of fluids in micrometric channels, essential for handling very small volumes of liquid in micro-volumes. This technology is at the heart of lab-on-a-chip systems, where complex analyses can be miniaturized and automated on a single chip. It opens up revolutionary prospects for medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring and many other scientific applications.
Microfluidics applications: miniaturization boosts performance
Microfluidic components are essential for applications requiring precision and small-scale fluid control, making them the technology of choice for :
- In Vitro Diagnostics and Point of Care Analysis: for fast, accurate analysis in medical environments.
- Life Sciences and Biotechnology: including cell culture and single-cell analysis, essential for advanced biomedical research.
- Bioprocesses such as bioreactors and radiopharmaceutical applications: enabling the safe, controlled production of drugs and other substances.
- Chemical analysis (fuel cells and oil analysis): microfluidic devices help monitor fluid quality and maximize energy efficiency.
- Environmental testing: for monitoring water and air quality, crucial for environmental studies.
Each device is manufactured by micro-injection molding and assembled in our cleanrooms (ISO 7 and ISO 8), guaranteeing high quality and perfect tightness thanks to specialized processes.
These microfluidic cartridges are made from transparent or non-transparent engineering plastics and produced by micro-injection molding. The plastic parts forming the microfluidic cartridges are assembled by bonding or other sealing processes. We can produce prototypes as well as mass production runs. We manufacture our own ISO 7 or ISO 8 parts, as well as their assemblies.
