IBMM & DEMGY Frasne: A partnership to accelerate innovation in the fight against cancer
As part of the “Companies & Campus” call for projects, the F15 team at IBMM, led by Dr. Jean-Marie Ramirez, has established a strategic partnership with DEMGY Frasne (Director: Jean-Claude Sondaz) to develop the CAPDCM project, an innovative medical device intended for the treatment of solid cancers, particularly breast cancer.
The Role of DEMGY Frasne
DEMGY Frasne, a leading industrial player, contributes its technical expertise and production facilities to:
- Finalize the medical device while ensuring its quality and reliability.
- Manufacture the device in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 2768, and ISO 286 standards, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Enable the commercialization of the device through its industrial capabilities and expertise in manufacturing complex medical devices.
This collaboration perfectly illustrates how DEMGY Frasne transforms scientific innovation into practical applications, supporting research projects from design through production and market launch.
Purpose of the CAPDCM Project
The CAPDCM project aims to combat breast cancer through a biocompatible device equipped with homogeneous, sealed microchannels that enable the trapping of metastatic cells—hence the acronym CAPDCM. This is a cross-disciplinary project combining biological, chemical, microfluidic, and clinical expertise.
Companies & Campus and the University Innovation Hub
The “Companies & Campus” initiative, launched by the University of Montpellier and the University Innovation Hub, provides financial support for collaborative projects between laboratories and companies to promote technology transfer. Since 2018, 16 rounds have supported 63 winning projects and allocated over €2.5 million to stimulate innovation.

The University Innovation Hub, led by the University of Montpellier, brings together 14 founding members to encourage partnerships between research and the socio-economic sector and stimulate the creation of innovative companies in the Montpellier region.
