Ophélie Westphal gave a conference at the SFIP congress
On March 23, 2023, Ophélie WESTPHAL, R&D Manager of our DEMGY Atlantique site, gave a conference at the SFIP congress - French Society of Plastics Engineers -, organized with the support of CNEP - National Center for Photoprotection Evaluation -, DECATHLON, TECHTERA and OSV - Outdoor Sports Valley -, dedicated to the applications of polymer materials in the field of sports and leisure.
The aim of the conference was to focus on the regulations concerning extended producer responsibility (EPR) and the environmental issue for regulatory aspects, innovation in materials and manufacturing processes and sustainable development
Our conference was an opportunity to highlight the Group's ambition regarding the intelligent and sustainable use of plastics and composites. Ophélie had the opportunity to underline the importance of eco-design within the group by presenting her expertise in the transformation of 2 innovative composite materials:
- Self-Reinforced Polypropylene (SRPP) is a lightweight, low-density (0.9) thermoplastic composite material with excellent rigidity and good impact and shock resistance
- Flaxcomp®, DEMGY's exclusive know-how in flax and bio-composites processing. Our speaker highlighted Flaxcomp®, a bio-composite combining two main components: flax, a braided fiber with very low environmental impact, and polyamide, a thermoplastic polymer. This biocomposite, even when transformed, is recyclable and is the raw material of tomorrow's green industry!
The DEMGY Group has a unique expertise in the transformation of composites or bio-composites thanks to its mastery of the Net-shape process, which allows the creation and production of all complex shapes (roundings and angles for example). This process is defined according to the raw materials contained in the preform.
The Group is continuing its path towards the use of new solutions for polymer transformation, creativity and entrepreneurship being two of our fundamental values.
